Connie Ayars, née Zeiger, was an enthusiastic artist as a child and throughout her precollege days. She then obtained a degree in fine arts at Skidmore College. The late sixties and early seventies were an exciting time to be a part of the Skidmore art department as many of Josef Albers’ protégés from Yale were part of the faculty.

After college, Connie worked as a graphic designer at a major corporation for a few years and then took a long detour from the arts to pursue other interests, including a graduate degree at the University of California Los Angeles and one at Yale University. In the meantime, she collected art and in more recent years served on the National Advisory Council at the Tang Museum at Skidmore.

She has now returned to her first love and is living and painting in Old Lyme, CT.
